First Time Trekking in Nepal
Trekking in the Himalayas is one of the most rewarding adventures on Earth, but preparation is key to a safe and enjoyable journey.
1. Choosing Your Trek
For your first visit, popular routes like the Annapurna Base Camp or Ghorepani Poon Hill offer well-developed teahouse infrastructure and manageable altitude profiles.
2. Acclimatization is Non-Negotiable
Never rush altitude gains. Follow the golden rule: climb high, sleep low, and limit your sleeping altitude increase to no more than 300–500 meters per day once above 3,000m.
3. Teahouse Life
Teahouses provide cozy communal dining halls heated by wood or yak-dung stoves. Ordering your dinner at the same teahouse where you sleep is standard custom and keeps your room fee very affordable.
